The 2008 San Diego Comic Con International comes to a close today. We want to take this opportunity to thank all the ROBOTECH fans for stopping by, supporting and helping out with the RobotechX Fandom Booth. Without you, this would have not been possible.  We already registered for next year (SDCC 2009) and we have plans to have an even better booth.

Before we begin to pat ourselves on the back for a "job well done." Let us remember why we go to Comic Con in the first place. Don't worry though, this is not going to be a history lesson or anything like that. We simply want to discuss what was on the other side of the exhibit hall. The original reason why we have Comic Con: COMIC BOOKS. Since today was the last day of the Con and it is not as packed as the other days, we were a bit more free to walk about as easy as possible around the rest of the exhibit hall.

GirlsCostumes

COSPLAY AND GIRLS

These are some of the reasons that make Comic Con worthwhile. Cosplay and girls! It is great to see people dressed up as their favorite characters. Especially when they place great amounts of effort into their costumes.

FanFans

FANS

Fans, you are what make these events successful and what better example than the RobotechX Fandom Booth. Once again today fans came by and discussed ROBOTECH. It is really surprising that many of the fans that followed ROBOTECH did not know what happens after Scott Bernard takes off into space. Of course you know the answer to that and whatever opinion of Shadow Chronicles you have we will save for another time.

THE TOYS!Your stuff

THE TOYS!

Where else besides ebay could you get that toy you have always wanted? Who cares if its overpriced! Sometimes you just gotta have it. Don't mention Toynami or you might upset some fans who could not get their hands on the latest ROBOTECH toys as they were ALL SOLD OUT! Oh yeah, if you bring something to the Con don't forget to secure it or you might lose it.

MEMO packing upDavid (SIGHUP) and MEMO say their goodbyes

As fun as the days at the Comic Con were, it was time to pack it up. You can see MEMO wearing the RobotechX booth sign on his head sushi chef style. He might have a thing for hats, first the TUNA sombrero and now the RobotechX booth sign.

THANKS

Okay now its time to pat ourselves in the back. First off thanks to MEMO1DOMINION for registering for the booth and gathering some of his priceless ROBOTECH collection, packing it all into the purple tote and driving to San Diego. If that wasn't enough he also brought Jesus Barrero for the spanish dub ROBOTECH fans. Next up a BIG THANKS to Carl Macek for comin down and signing autographs. Thanks to Tommy Yune of Harmony Gold for letting Carl Macek know about the fan booth and the HUGE Shadow Chronicles banner. Thanks to Steve Yun for coming down to show his support and chatting it up with the fans.

The names are in no particular order but what comes to mind. Special thanks to:

Ron (SDF1A) - for watching over the booth, helping with set up and break down. Also your tiny ipod!
Phred - for the excellent TUNA sombrero. Great stuff!
Sasebonian - manning the booth.
Mira Mesa fan - thanks for the passes and the banter
The people around our booth who were very helpful in directing us "booth newbies."
Finally thanks to all the ones that were missed and to all the fans who came up to talk and show their support for the ROBOTECH Fandom

See you next year!

We certainly learned a lot and have a bunch of ideas for next year Comic Con 2009. Can't wait and hope to see you there!

Hey Ron. It was cool to meet my first local fellow Protoculture addict. Hopefully we can meet up in the future. Thanks to you and Memo for manning and setting up the booth and thanks to Tommy and Carl for gracing us with their presence.

Title: There was someone else manning the booth.
I met another guy manning the booth on Friday. He wore glasses but I don't recall catching his name. I wonder if he was Sasebonian. His picture in in the 7/25 gallery with me and the other Robotech fan at the same time Tommy gave us the folders.
