The Future is getting dark here

Well I this one isn't Robotech related but I know more people would likely read this then my MySpace so here I go.

I'm sure by now everyone is getting really tired of the high cost of fuel. Regular here at a Mobile Station I just filled up at was $4.25 for reg. Thank god I own an 07' Aveo and have a small tank. But the pressure isn't letting up. Some of you may know from my RT.com Profile that I am a certified Aircraft Mechanic (A&P) and when employed as such can make good money.

Well gas prices have killed much of the aviation industry as well and to say the least I no longer am employed in that field. I am now an Assistant Manager for a Subway. I went from $15.75 an hour to $9.50 an hour. I also have two young children, (2 and 3) and i'm a single parent.

My home is a trailer and in the winter I look to Heating fuel to keep warm. For obvious reasons between my need to drive to work (there is no public transportation near me as i live in a small town outside the city limits) and the prospect of haveing to put aside cash for this winters Fuel bill that by the way is going to triple in price is crushing me.

I feel like I am trapped with no window of hope. Many of the programs set-up to help lower income families are closeing doors to new applicants. I get no child support from my kids mother (NYS court system is beyond screwed up and hellishly biased against fathers)  I find myself praying for a solution.

It's the dam gas prices that are driveing everything. No one can afford to do anything anymore. Everyone is pinched beyond the breaking point. What choice do we have? You would think that with everyone so squeezed that we would all be screaming at our law makers to do something about it.

Every night I get home (I'm the closeing manager) My uncle has the TV on the news (he babysits for me) and every day it's the same dam arguements, "It's not the suppliers  it's the refineries" "It's not the refineries it's the war" "It's not the war it's our over use of our reserves." "It's not our use it's the politicians being in the pockets of the oil reserves."

Ok it's obvious that everyone has someone to blame but no one can agree on a fix. Some people have serious beef with drilling in new places because of enviormental issues. Most folks I personally know that believe in this don't have kids. They have stable jobs. I really no longer care about the deer.  My family is gonna suffer if we don't open new sources and lower these prices.

I am not saying that drilling more is gonna make this go away in the long run as oil will dissapear eventually. Investing in alternate energy systems is vital to our future but in the mean time we can't survive these prices while the energy companies and automotive guys twiddle thier thumbs in getting us green equiptment. I will not make it until all cars are electric, or even flex-fuel. We need a fix for the now or the economy is done for.

It actually makes me angery to see these tree huggers chooseing trees over our own lives. Nuke power is clean. If regulated it is safe. Oil drilling and transport can be safe if regulated as well. Wind turbines are clean as well. My local town is rallying against a farm being put up right now. This farm could power all of our town and half the city next door but they are all angery with "noise polution" Sorry these turbines arn't loud. They freak about what will happen to wittle birdies that fly into the blades. Umm has anyone actually seen how fast these blades(which by the way are 100 feet long each, i've seen them being hauled down the interstate. They are HUGE!) turn? They are relatively slow turning. Trust me anyone wanna argue with me on this, go to your local airport and count the number of turning Turbo Prop commuters and Jet intakes and think of how dangerous THEY are. Sorry but the bird strikes aren't that common. Blocking these things and saying we need other solutions is wrong. There are no other options anymore.

How many of use can survive much longer in this mess? I haven't heard muchof anything promising out of our presidential candidates or other politicians. I'm worried for my kids that i'm not gonna be able to afford to properly care for them if this dosent' get better. I'm sorry if this offended anyone but right now my hands are shakeing and i'm at a loss. It's very hot and humid here and i can't use my AC and my daughter was heat sick this morning so i'm alittle tense.

I don't see the light at the end of this tunnel, and it's scary.

Title: gas prices
I agree its rediculous, I dont even know why its so expensive, but hopefully science can come up with a new resource we can use. The prices can't keep increasing, they'll have to go down sometime, my guess is when our new president is elected.

You are amongst many more of us. So you are not alone.

I was listening to NPR the other day and I believe it was Exon made $60 BILLION in PROFITS alone. I mean $60 BILLION and just yesterday I saw gas for $4.97 premium! Its insanity.

Truthfully however, the rates are NOT going down until people actually do something abot it. People have NOT stopped buying fuel and I am not talking about the ones who need it. People who can bike to work in 10-15 minutes. In my opinion, rates will not go down until lifestyles change.
