Today is Monday Apr 19, and I woke up this morning to the news that CM past away. My 1st thought was sadness at his passing. My 2nd thought was man my stuff signed by him will be worth a lot of money now...(I MEAN NO DISRESPECT BY THIS THOUGHT!!)
(On a side note, it's just sad that I had that thought in the first place...YAY Capitalism??!!!)
Anyways, CM gave us an incredible gift. I wish I could have asked him if he knew back then that he as introducing America to a Brand New Genre that will EXPLODE and expand into what it is today and that Robotech was the catalyst?!
Robotech by James Cameron???
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (0)Ok...So I saw Avatar, and its going to top Titanic in sales...The story wasnt all that but the Grafx OMG!!! I mean come on Battloids and Smurfs on Steriods?? Who knew????
Now what if and this is what if...Cameron and RLAM?? With the same budget as Avatar, and I think that the Macross Storyline is just a tad better than Avatar's...so whats the problem?? I mean everyone already saw robots and giant aliens, I mean this is win win...If people loved Avatar...they will be GAGA over RLAM, and RT has a better story.
Now I know Hollyweird will not see it that way, cuz its a Japanese thing but I dont see the difference of 9ft tall Smurfs and 60' tall Humanoids.
SFX
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (0)With my final entry of the year, I've just watched arguably the best Visual FX movie of ALL TIME in Avatar. This movie Visually is what Transformers WANTED to be. This movie was a visual eye candy love fest. If RLAM is anywhere near 1/2 as good visually it will be a successful movie bcuz the story will make up for any visual short comings.
WETA w/ help from ILM did the SFX for this movie and if I have said it once, I will say it again...ILM BETTER DO THE SFX FOR RLAM!!!!! Did I just say that? Inner voice Inner voice.
Was it just me or did you imagine Zoe Saldana as Claudia while watching that movie or remembering Star Trek?? Hmmmmmmmmmmm
New Beginnings
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (0)Well here we are in December. I have had a hell of a Summer & Fall, but you know what...things are getting better. I prayed to God and asked him for someone to love me for me and someone who is interested in me as I am in her and you know what? He answered! Today I met someone. We talked for about 5hrs online and she is a cutie! Her name is Melissa and man is she a hottie! I just got done making a CD for her and I am going to meet her soon in person. I am sharing this with you my ext. family because I am gitty like a school girl. I am just having the darndest time talking and writing and whatever. AND I LIKE IT!! I hope this goes well, I really do, because I don't want to feel like shit again!
Until next time!
Epiphanies
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (3)Hey all....
Just had a MAJOR brain fart...I have been fighting my heart for the last 2 weeks trying to figure out if I should give my ex-wife another chance. I know I did some shit too to end the marriage, but nothing what she did. I just got done watching Hamlet 2 and man was that a kick in the groin. My heart is saying get her back and my brain is SCREAMING F*** NO!!! I can't wait until I graduate Grad School and give her the invite for it...I would love to be the fly on the wall to see her reaction. I know I need to move on, but it is hard when you dont have someone to share stuff with. Friends are nice but that certain someone is better, and when you had that and lost it, it really SUX ASS!
I guess what I am saying is being lonely sux, but Grad School is a nice pacifier. When I do find "The One" she will appreciate what I have gone through and not be a total douche. Thank God for Robotech!
It's been awhile...
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (3)Hey everyone...Well lets start with the bad news...Lancer is getting a divorce...
Now that that is done, I am here listening to Journey's "Don't stop believing" which is kind of a theme song right now for me. I am just trying to live 1 day at a time, which is hard for a guy like me who always want "to look away, to the future. Not looking at where he is...what he is doing" (If you don't know who said that then you deserve a smack w/ a wet noodle) Oh and I got a new computer so I want to do these things more often now, and I want to do a webcast since this thing has a webcam on it.
Ok now for the RT stuff...Its now the end of summer and so far Kevin & Co. have not really come out w/ anything new w/ RLAM. I guess no news is good news but you know when we heard about Iron Man a lot of ppl were skeptical and we didnt hear a lot about that. (Hey my Itunes is now playing the Theme of RT) Yes I know random...Anyways I know all of us is looking forward to this movie and I just hope that Kevin and Tommy (bcuz I asked them both) will let the director or ask the director to let me host a behind the scenes look at RLAM. For just a uber geek in RT that would be sooo COOL!!!!
#25 is Coming!
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (0)Lancer here after a brief hiatus...
We fans are coming up w/ a Fan convention of Robotech 25th Anniversary. Now what would make this convention a success? Well I know that we have to join forces w/ other Sci-fi genres to make this work so that means Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, maybe something else w/ Robotech. Now besides the usual suspects of voice actors, HG guys and other anime people, I think we also need Michael Bradley & his band, I would like to have the ENTIRE Macross V. A.s also I would like to have some kind of booth for fans to show off their collection of RT, BSG, B5...You know that M. Strazyski would be nice as well as EP of BSG. Macek & Co. would be cool for RT.
Now right now I am just spitballing but for this to be a RAGING success it needs to have something SPECTACULAR! I mean 25 yrs is a long time and a big deal, maybe getting some of the writers of RTLAM or Tobey Maguire to come out and talk about why he is wanting to do RTLAM and what character he wants to play (if he wants to play in it).
RLAM 2 CENTS
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (2)Well I have just put on my first RT party for my B-day and I must say it was a complete success...Great BBQ and great friends made for a great evening of FUN!!
During that time I was able to come up w/ an awesome idea for the RLAM...My Official list of the cast...
What is next for Lancer & Robotech?
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (1)Installment #3 of the Mind of Lancer...
As I come closer to my B-Day (Oct 9) I think about where my life is and what Robotech has meant to me in this life. I look at my Shrine O'Robotech and see all of my Books, RPGs, CDs, Masterpiece Collections, YGO Custom Playmat, and of course my Prized Possesion an Autographed poster from Macek and Ahmed Agrama dated Aug. '86 framed on my wall. I think about all the cool new friends I have met and just thinking to myself...Dude if in 1985 when I first saw this awesome show that I would have met the Creator/Director, Chief Artist, Michael Bradley and know people of Harmony Gold on a 1st name basis in 20yrs...I would've thought I was nuts!
A Behind the scenes look @ RLAM the Making of a Dream!
Posted by: Lancer | Comment (2)Lancer here w/ a 2nd installment of Lancer Talk...
I was thinking...When pre-production starts for RLAM we should have someone on the inside representing the fans...Oh I don't know since we know some people at HG maybe we can commission them to get a video cam., a lot of disks, and 2 other people to work the thing and a 2 man anchor to narrarate and star in "RLAM the making of a 25yr old Dream" Now I would like to throw my hat into this ring since I think a lot of people already know my umm how should we say shinanagans in the Shadow Chronicles DVD so I have a familiar face...then get either a hot female or another guy to be my cohort in this endeavor...This is something that of course will be on the DVD vrs of this movie and will hopefully depict how this historic Anime movie that has been around for almost 30yrs is turned from pictures on a small screen to Live Action Goodness...Now for those of you who don't know there is talk of a Fandom Convention going on for the next yr for the anniversary of the SDF-1 historic launch in Feb. Some names kicked around were...
RTXpo, ProtoCon, ProtocultureXpo, Macropolis, VeritechCon
