Robotech New Generation Armor, Weapons and Mecha was created by MEMO1DOMINION

COMIC CON CAME AND WENT AND WITH PLANS FOR THE FANS TO DO SOMETHING BIG FOR 2010 COMIC CON CELEBRATING THE 25TH ANIVERSARY OF ROBOTECH AT SAN DIEGO COMIC CON.

I AND OTHER FANS HAVE STARTED TO ORGANIZE IN MAKING THE ROBOTECH CVR-3 M/F TO WEAR AT THE TOYNAMI BOOTH AND AT THE ROBOTECH PANEL. I WAS ABLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH GEORGE AT THE TOYNAMI BOOTH AND NOT ONLY WILL HE GIVE POINTERS BUT OFFERED HIS FULL SUPPORT FOR THIS TO WORK.

HECK, ITS ABOUT TIME WE PUT SOME CHALLENGE AGAINST THE 501ST STORM TROOPERS. THOUGHT WE ARE ONLY A FEW DEDICATED FANS IN THIS VENTURE I WILL REPORT THE PROGRESS SO OTHERS CAN SEE.

I ALREADY SENT AN EMAIL TO HG AND GEORGE AND HOPE I CAN START WORKING ON THIS ASAP. SO OTHERS CAN JOIN AS WELL. THIS ALSO COMES AT A COST FROM US PERSONALY BUT WE HOPE WE CAN GET IT GOING FOR FUTURE CONS AND OTHER FANS TO MAKE.

I wonder how heavy it'll be. I'm planning on dressing up as something else.

Hi, saw this thread on the Robotech forum and followed it here. I'm interested in this project as well.

I was looking into making a CVR-3 suit for my son using the drawings from the Palladium RPG REF Field Guide as a referance. If it turns out well I'll make some armor for myself as well.

I was thinking of making body castings this weekend and creating vacuu form molds for the pieces. That way I can cast the armor in plastic like the Stormtrooper guys do. If done right it should look pretty sweet.

Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome.

Yeah, pick up a copy of the REF Field Guide from Palladium for the Robotech RPG. They put in a bunch of design sheets from the Sentinals and have have a pictures of the CVR-3 armor from several different angles as well as details on the way the armor is fastened together. A must have if you are going to be building this thing. Only thing better would be the original Mospeada design books that came out 20 years ago but those are kinda hard to find.

Is there a time-table to shoot for regarding a prototype?

At a guess, based on the undersuit colourations, Green is for The Army, Red is for The Air/Space Forces, Blue is for Space Marines and the grey/white are exclusively for the Shadow Units. Let me know if ya need more and what specifically ya need.

I guess my timetable is Wonder-Con in late February. If I can get it done sooner I'll be happy. My son is hoping for Halloween but I told him not to get his hopes up since I'm still learning how to do this.

I've been doing some research lately and have found some good stuff. Some people have been making Halo armor using forms printed from this program- www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en . It allows you to take a 3d model and turn it into something that can be printed out and glued together like a paper model.

I was thinking if we had a really good 3d model of the CVR-3 armor that it would be possible to 1) print out the forms or copy them onto 1/8 in plastic sheet, 2) cut them out and assemble them to make the forms, 3) use clay to sculpt in the detail (some of the Halo armor was made using this method and bondo for something more permanent but I've never worked with the stuff and am not that confident), 4) vacuum-form plastic over the form to create the final armor, 5) detail and paint.

This way a general template could be made and distributed so that everyone is uniform looking. Just a thought.

Anybody got a good 3d model we could work with?
