I had that kit as a kid. That is the model line that Harmony Gold sub licenced the name Robotech from. Yes REVELL made up the name.

At that time Revell had concentrated several model kits under the Robotech brand( Orguss, Dougram, Macross and etc )

This isn't a weird place, per se, but it really doesn't make any sense. This is a Robotech soundtrack, but it's a safe bet that the new cell shaded animation that accompanies it most certainly did not come from Harmony Gold:
