"It is film that has a certain kind of legacy for this audience here anyway, which is ROBOTECH."

Is Tobey in the lead? "Right now Tobey is just a producer like myself and Akiva." There you have it. Straight from Charles "Chuck" Roven, as of now Tobey McGuire is not in the lead role, only producing the ROBOTECH Live-Action Movie along with Chuck Roven and Akiva Goldsman.

The interviewer mentions that one of the great things about ROBOTECH is that it takes place on Earth which Roven replies, "Sort of, we all know the trigger mechanism is an attack on earth." Without reading too much into this, we can expect the RLAM to probably take place not on Earth but some place else. You can speculate all you want, but we'll leave the hair pulling session for another time. However Roven is  hopeful that RLAM will start shooting next year.

At the very least, Roven seems to understand how important ROBOTECH is to its fans as he says, "It is a film that has a certain kind of legacy for this audience here anyway, which is ROBOTECH." Most of us have already seen Chuck Roven's work in BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT. Innovative while staying true to its origins, we can only hope and most likely expect the same of the RLAM.

Finally the interviewer asks if the movie will stay original to the series, Roven replies, "I can't tell you that honestly, I mean certainly we are going to take some inspiration from all that because we want to make sure that you know from whence the roots came from. But I can't really tell you right now, we haven't even started production design, we're just working on the script right now." We could go on and on about what may or may not be in the movie, but once again we will save the hairs since its way to early to forecast anything.

What we do know!

-Tobey McGuire as of now is not in the lead role, only producing the RLAM.
-Only the script is being worked on.

oh boy, how is it possible to not be certian if the film takes place on earth? the look on his face worried me. attack on earth wasn't just a trigger it was the story. smilies/sad.gif

Title: Well. . .
this could be taken in two ways, first lets look at the bad.

Okay, so the "trigger" as he called it is an attack on earth which leads to an all out war with the Zents, Invid whoever. They could just be taking the story in MARS base or JUPITER base whatever.

On the good, they coulod just be following the SDF-1 in outer space, as it happened in the Macross Saga. Too many variables right now really. It could just be that they really don't want to give anything away.

I simply see it as there being some changes to keep it current. There are going to be some major changes in my opinion. Who knows. I don't count on them using the F-14 since its outdated, but I sure hope and wishing I am wrong.

Title: KISS
Keep It Simple Stupid...Guys it could just take place in Space...You know like you see the building and crashing of the SDF-1 but it takes you directly to the SDF-1 coming home and the Main Battle sequences w/o the ship actually landing on earth to save about 10 episodes...then the final scene w/ the SDF-1 blowing up Dolza's ship and it landing in a war-torn Earth as a final scene...Thats what I think.

WELL, IT GOES TO THE EFFECT OF WHAT WB WANTS...

AND THAT IS....

NO LEAKS!!!!!

MAN, HE REALLY TRYIED TO KEEP A LID ON WHATS ON THE SCRIPT AND I DO GIVE THE INTREVIEWER PROPS FOR TRYING TO GET ANYTHING OUT OF HIM.

AS PER WRITTING THE SCRIPT, ITS TO EARLY TO SAY WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH TOBEY. THE SCRIPT IS NOT CALLING OUT ACTORS FOR NOW AND YOU KNOW TOBEY IS NOT JUST FRONTING UP THE MONEY TO SIT OUT ON A BIG SCREEN MOVIE. AFTER THE SCRIPT IS WHEN THEY REALLY GET THE DIRECTOR AND START WORKING ON CAST. THATS WHEN WE WILL SEE TOBEY GET DIBS ON A ROLE.
