Zentradi Vinyl Battlepod from Toynami!

Zentradi Vinyl Battlepod from Toynami!

According to CollectionDX, Toynami is set to release the Robotech Vinyl Collection Zentraedi Tactical Battlepod. Try saying that three times fast. As previewed at comic con when it was just a prototype. It seems that Toynami came through as its releasing the collectible on February 2010. But get yours early because the 1/100 scale figure is only a limited to a run of 2,000 pieces worldwide!

Prototype

A few were a bit skeptical since it was just a prototype back in Toynami's booth at Comic Con International 2009. At last, a more accurate representation of the Battlepod will see the light of day in February 2010! It will complement the current 1/100 models because of the same scale.

Robotech Battlepod 80s

The last official Battlepod release was back in the 80s with the matchbox's version.

REVOLTECH REGULT

Currently the only widely available Battlepod (or Regult) is the Revoltech Macross Regult #051which comes with guns and stand sells for around $21.99-$30 dollars on ebay and other online retailers.

It will be interesting to see how Toynami's version stacks up to the Revoltech version.

Oh yes, gets a bit better. A couple of online stores are already listing the item for $22.99 as a pre-order. BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainmentearth.com

"According to the sculptor at Toynami: in the standard knee-bent stance, it's approximately 8 inches to the top of the head. Add about an inch or so if you also count the cannons on top.

First ad that just went to press for the upcoming 1/100 scale Zentraedi Tactical Battlepod, marking Toynami's steps into Robotech villain territory. The battlepods are presently being produced to arrive in stores this spring."
