Robotech itself is a knock-off from the original Macross / Southern Cross / Mospeada.

What better way to have a Chinese knock-off of Macross to be a knock-off of Robotech? That ways, Big West can't sued HG arse!

Not that much. Macross is more of a Gundam parody. But it veered off & become unique on its own.

You did noticed the enemy as Haydonite? Oh yes, and their designs are wayyyyy cooler than piss-poor RTSC Infiltrator mecha (though I dig the Wraith design).
