Uh... the movie's title is 'The Dark Knight'.

"The Dark Knight Returns" is a Frank Miller graphic novel...

It might be a good idea for you to get your facts straight, before you post something.

No need to thank me,I'm here to help.

Anyway, I have yet to see any actor who so strongly looks Fokker's part, and has the acting skills too. Viggo isn't much of an actor, unfortunately. Yes, he's a handsome hunk/etc, but he's far too subdued in his style to be the gregarious Roy. Likewise, even somebody like Clint Eastwood, who is a good actor, still has too subdued a style.

You need somebody who can be outgoing, gregarious, charming, as well as handsome. Eckhart is all of those things and more. He's a thinking man's actor, too. And he easily projects a likeable onscreen persona, which would make audiences fall in love with Roy.

If the first Robotech movie ends with the death of Roy Fokker, a la Boromir in Fellowship of the Ring, then Eckhart will make Roy's character so likeable that viewers will feel the loss. Remember that Boromir's death is one of the key seminal events that made that first Fellowship movie such a hit. They need to consider that for Robotech's first bigscreen outing too.

Whoever they pick for Roy, he's got to be someone who'll make you like him, so that you'll feel something when he dies onscreen.

Rick is a tough call. I'm not sure if Toby MacGuire intends to fill the role himself, or if he's only going to direct/produce.

Check out this clip of Jim Sturgess:

He's fairly cute and young-looking and has good singing skills too, though he probably won't need them for Robotech. He was recently in a movie called Across the Universe. He's British but he can do an American accent fine, just like fellow Brit Jamie Bamber does for Battlestar.

Well, Macross and Robotech are built around the love-conquers-all theme. ;)

He does even look a bit like Toby.

Haha, when you watch "Across the Universe" -- just imagine an "M" on the front:

Actually, if they show the part where Rick is trapped inside the bowels of the SDF-1 with Minmei, then I wouldn't mind it if he sang a small duet with her to cheer her up. Maybe that's what sparks off her own singing talent, and gets her started on her path. Jim Sturgess is a nice young guy, who could pull off something like that very well. You can tell just by looking at him.

Jim Sturgess and Aaron Eckhart are both handsome in different and complementary ways. While Eckhart has rugged good looks, Sturgess has a softer kind of boyish handsomeness.

Heh, another thing about Jim Sturgess, is that he looks nice with messed up hair, a la Rick Hunter:

Classic arm-behind-the-head anime pose -- all he needs is the large sweatdrop ;)

You could picture him and Minmei hanging together

Interesting choice! I'd go with Elijah Wood though

Haha, I too really thought seriously about Elijah Wood, especially since he was so great as Frodo in LotR. Certainly, having him as Rick Hunter would give an impression to audiences that they should see Robotech as a serious epic like LotR. He does convey a sense of vulnerability, which is important to Rick's character.

But I think Elijah Wood is a little too soft and even effeminate, to be Rick Hunter. He'd really have to man up, in order to be an action hero like Rick. After all, Rick may not be the most macho hero, but as an ace pilot he's still more of a guy than itty bitty Frodo was.

But yeah, I could see him in the role though, especially with some of Rick's more compassionate or emotionally vulnerable scenes. Like when he's comforting a distraught Minmei while they're trapped in the depths of SDF-1. Or when he's feeling the terror of combat. Or when he feels jilted or marginalized by a Minmei focused on her rising popularity.

Like I said -- not quite as manly as one might hope, haha :P ;)
