Robotron
Year:1988
Platform:Commodore 64

Gameplay:

This game is not Macross related,
actually the game is related with
Robotech:The New Generation(Genesis Climber MOSPEADA).
The name of the main character is Scott Adams.
In this game almost everything is related with robotech/mospeada.
Only the names are different. This game should be interesting to
Robotech:The New Generation(Genesis Climber MOSPEADA) fans.

That doesn't look like any Robotron I've ever played.

This Robotron was the precursor to Smash TV.

I was also confused with this title ROBOTRON.

I also played good old Robotron game on commodore 64.
Or should I say Robotron: 2084 Which is The full name of the game.

Robotron: 2084 on wikipedia.

C64 version of Robotron: 2084 on GB64

But this strange game with many ROBOTECH(MOSPEADA) elements is
just ROBOTRON.

ROBOTRON c64 game on on GB64.

BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception
Year:1988
Platform(s):Amiga, Apple II, Atari ST, Commodore 64, DOS

Gameplay:

In This game giant robots are fighting against each Other.
I will not talk about BattleTech because
it is a franchise different from Macross and Robotech.
This game is related with Macross because
both franchises share similarities in mecha design.

I had that game! The box art was really nothing like a VF-1, the transformation was similar but the look of the jet itself was more of an Alpha/Legioss. Kind of a hybrid rip-off. The game had nothing to do with Macross in fact.

I made it all the way to the end, Stage 16 or so, and it was such a derpy "boss fight" I really don't think they expected anyone to get that far. The Super Computer running all the crap on the alien asteroid was stuck in the ceiling, you had to shoot an Energy Droid that was somehow holding the entire thing up. This meant you could actually just run right through the room, straight to the exit, and not even fight the thing!

What's more, if you did drop it down to the floor, it didn't even shoot at you. It just sat there and let you destroy it.

What's EVEN more, regardless of whether you destroyed it or not, going through the exit warped you back to Stage 1 and you kept going.

Thexder II: Firehawk was a great game I would love to download somewhere sometime. It had missiles and varoius other secondary weapon powerups you could find and equip to your jet, and featured an actual boss. This one was only marginally better than the first one. It was a giant Thexder Robot that stood the entire height of the room. How it was ever supposed to LEAVE that room wasn't something the aliens considered I guess. Well if you shot the ceiling there were like 5 blocks you could destroy, and get behind it to shoot it in its weak spot, the back of its head.

See, here's the derp factor of the 2nd boss: It just stayed there, running in place, and once you got behind it, it couldn't even turn around! Well at least this one shot lasers at you while you were in front of it.

They don't "share similarities", they flat out ripped them off! And then there was this snafu where they went to Studio Nue and said "hey we want to modernize these designs for our upcoming game, could you help us with that?" And of course, the designs had originated with Studio Nue in the first place! WHOOPS!

So now they are referred to as "The Unseen", and no longer appear in Battletech/Mechwarrior.

I'm sure if you Google it you can see direct comparisons of which was which. Off the top of my head, the Marauder was the Zentraedi Officer Pod, the Jenner was the Spartan-X, and the Locust was the Zentraedi Battlepod. The Rifleman and Warhawk (or was it Warhammer?) were Destroids, and Phoenix Hawk was the VF-1.

Something like that.
