Super Dimension Century Orguss was created by Peter Young

Found this not too long ago. Since Wikipedia gets changed all the time, I decided to copy-paste these lines before someone would edit or delete it:

Super Dimension Century Orguss (Japanese: 超時空世紀オーガス Hepburn: Chōjikū Seiki Ōgasu?) is an anime science fiction series. It inspired an OVA sequel series called Super Dimension Century Orguss 02. Orguss was the second part of The Super Dimension trilogy from Big West, preceded by The Super Dimension Fortress Macross and followed by The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross.[1][2][3]

Orguss was originally planned to be used as the third season of Robotech in the United States, just as the two other Super Dimension series (Macross and Southern Cross) were used for the two first seasons. However, rights issues resulted in Harmony Gold using the Genesis Climber Mospeada anime instead. Additionally, these three series are not sequels, prequels, or even in the same story universe as one another. Their only connection is the "Super Dimension" moniker in their titles presented by Big West.

It would explain all the more why Next Generation was so different in tone.
It lacks the lightheartedness the other two series maintained despite the wars.

I DONT THINK IT WAS IN THE LIBRARY THAT CARL MACEK LOOKED INTO WHEN CREATING ROBOTECH. MACROSS WAS WHAT HE WAS GOING TO PUT ON T.V. BUT WHEN HE NEEDED MORE EPISODES HE JUST LOOKED INTO TATSUNOKO LIBRARY TO SEE WHAT ELSE HE CAN USE. THIS IS SAID IN THE ARTBOOKS. NOT SURE HE WAS LOOKING FOR ORGUSS NECESARLY.

I've heard of this series numerous times over the course of history. Maybe one of these days I'll give it a watch and headcanon it into Robotech somehow, because surely that would piss someone off.

A thought just occured to me. Apparently, 'Super Dimension Fortress Macross' was intended as part of a trilogy (one of the other two series was used for 'The Masters'.

'SFFM' turned out more succesfull than the other two and therefore got it's own sequels - hence the 'Macross' series.
It was also used for Robotech.

If one series became the starting point for THREE different brands of fiction, it really must have been good, doesn't it?

It also makes the Macross vs. Robotech-antagony all the more irrelevant, since neither of the two was intended by the makers of the original series.

I am reminded of Grumpy Old Men. Robotech vs Macross, and Harmony Gold vs Studio Nue, they have been fighting for so long that nobody around them in the modern world really cares anymore but they will still never let it go in spite of how irrelevant it all is

And both companies would earn more money if they reached an agreement.
So there not even good capitalists.

Question: which company is Donald Hayes and which Dolza/Khyron?

Just found a possible answer (allthough it seems to bring more new questions than it answers):
