Voltron Force™ Premiere Breaks Record as Nicktoons’ Highest-Rated Debut Ever

On June 16 (Thursday, 8:30 p.m. ET) Nicktoons added the iconic franchise Voltron™ to its animated lineup with the new series, Voltron Force™. The series premiered with a 90-minute movie, “Voltron Force: New Defenders Trilogy,” which set a new record for the net as the highest-rated series premiere with all key kid, tween and boy demos. The debut also posted solid double and triple-digit increases over last year’s like time period with kids 6-11 (+53%) and boys 6-11 (+113%).

The half-hour series, which features an all-new theme song produced and recorded by Grammy Award®-winning producer and artist Swizz Beatz, follows the adventures of a new class of recruits as they join forces with the original team to fight evil by forming Voltron, the legendary super robot. The series will regularly air Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. (ET) on Nicktoons.

20 years ago, Marvel cancelled The Transformers with issue #80. A few minutes ago, IDW announced at SDCC that writer Simon Furman and artist Andrew Wildman will be returning next year to pick up where they left off with issue #81. Every other good announcement from SDCC is gonna be gravy. To say I'm looking forward to this is to understate the case. I've been looking forward to this since #80 came out when I was 10.

Then Mattel sent me the figure... I figured I would have to put on my "constructive criticism" hat and find tactful ways to dance around a mediocre toy, but I am happy to report the Blazing Sword Voltron is a shockingly great action figure!

Finally saw the first three eps and gotta say I was disappointed. It's more childish than it has to be and the character animation is truly horrid. Still, the only thing that got me to finish watching the eps was the cg Voltron/lion animation. Watching the show actually made me appreciate Shadow Chronicles. Still, the toys at least look pretty cool.

HEHEHE, I HAVE NOT SEEN IT YET AND IN NO RUSH. FIGURED BEING ON NICK THAT THEY WOULD KIDDIFY IT.

FROM COMIC CON THERE LOOKS LIKE THERE WILL BE MORE ANIMATION 80 REVIVAL COMING OUT.
