I live with a Hardcore Macross fan.... I'm an RT fan and really have to sit on it cause he always starts a fight over it. One of those "RT is a rip-off series" types. I don't discuss the series much anymore as a result. Rather keep quiet than be attacked over a tv show.

Yes, I'm starting to wonder if it's a certain personality type that's drawn to Macross. They seem to be fueled by hate and love creating their little hate groups to hang out with like minded angry people.

It's gotta be a personality thing, or perhaps a characteristic of anime fans in general.

They all rant about how HG kills Macross, yet they can all get everything Macross related online through ebay.

Not one of them has ever been affected negatively by Robotech.

If Robotech wasn't around, I'd bet they'd stop liking Macross altogether because they would no longer have a hate campaign to wage.

I've even heard they call Carl Macek the devil, and some have gone so far as to vandalize his grave site.

Hope you're not trolling. Fact is there would be no Robotech if it weren't for Macross. You do know thats where the animation came from right? At least for the macross saga. That said I will give you the part about Robotech introducing many fans to anime and Macross. This is how I found out. This probably only applies to most of the older fans, since anime is prevalent now and people can find out about it through other means.

I just needed to vent. The persecution one gets as a Robotech fan is unreal.

I take back my 'Macross sucks' comment. But I stand firmly behind the other comments.

It seems generally accepted that Robotech can be bashed to no end. But let out a whimper about it, and the Macross sharks come in.

Here nobody will "persecute" you for being a ROBOTECH fan. After all, this is a ROBOTECH fan site. I'm a Macross and ROBOTECH fan.

I prefer Macross because I like Anime in Japanese and like the source material with its original story. The reason why some Macross fans shun RT is because imagine STAR WARS was chopped up, hacked and created into a different story. But that doesn't give anyone the right to be little a fan of something else.

Here is a fun fact to throw around, Macross was originally created as a parody of Space Battleship Yamato and Mecha series.
